slow going with these guys...
what began as pots "just a bit larger"
somehow became quite a bit larger
we'll see how they dry
and continue forward...

though the wood kiln has been quiet this year due to hernia surgery
and groin problems, the pots from it are still here and in the gallery and in my home... I continue to consider them extremely beautiful and will be back to making them soon... it's the picking up and carrying them that's the problem... this Large Oval Bowl
is a perfect example of the geode idea begun years back... the wood ash runs pool to form an ash jewel on the side and create a wonderful contrast with the lava like outside...I've been looking at this in the living room for a few years now and still see things I was unaware of...
imagine that!

should you be going by the drive here
consider stopping in...
the gallery is full and the new earthenware is on display...the landscape is tremendous...
it's Lupine time and all is blue/purple...

Wet in the studio...
bringing more attention into the interior
once dry, I'll begin there...
can't decide whether to call this and it's coming companion...stump or bucket...

Another successful attempt...

I really like the exterior of this bowl
rosy, red brown, nice fleks, nicely old school...
but the interior has me singing...
I can do it again!

Spiral Oval Vase

old, worn, possibly buried for a while
crackling, crusty and convoluted...
everything they say craftsmanship is not about
beautiful anyway!

Continued Tests...

still working on bowls made for the tour
and searching for an interior surface...
this is promising...

helpful thoughts...

a quote I've carried with me through the changes of late
as I've battled myself over wood kilns and alternative methods:

"A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds".
