Demarest...This Year/Last Year
This Year/ Last Year...
it seemed time for a change...
surgery last april, a long time until heavy lifting was to be done... I, of course, did not wait long enough... couldn't wait long enough...thus more waiting...
needed to make lighter pots and step away from the arduous work of the wood kiln...
I wanted to make something brighter, more colorful and playful with a much lower price point... wanted to have some sales...maybe shock or at least surprise people a bit, saying hey! I'm not just a one trick pony...how about this?
while at Demarest, I realized many of the potters there weren't born when I first attended the show,
well back in time now... they didn't know of the many changes of the past...
there's a message here somewhere, but at present,
I just don't know what it is....

Switches...
an unexpected [by me] snow this morning
for the first time, I found myself glad to not be out stoking the wood kiln
it's been a long stretch of hard work, but today
I can enjoy the snow and change of weather...
I'm chasing turquoise and I can stay inside by the fire,
be warm and occasionally go down and turn a few switches
on the 2 kilns now firing...
my body is thanking me for the rest and ease of this new method of working...
my mind wonders if they are "commercial enough"...
we'll see soon enough as I continue onward toward Demarest...

thank you all...
Just a reminder...
meanwhile... a wonderful Thanksgiving to all...
a warm and grateful expression of thanks
to all who visited the gallery this season,
offered jokes, stories and warm smiles
I am thankful to all of you for your support, friendliness
and excitement about the pots
may your Thanksgiving be grand!

Small Oval Bottle
Small Oval Bottle
10.5in.H x 5in.W
SOLD
howling winds for the last 2 days...
hoping the power holds as the big oval
is running for the first time in quite a while
called it in to help with the backload of pots...
the lid rebuild and repair has held well
but probably needs to be redone from scratch...
3 repairs now have definitely increased the size...
and the hinges don't work properly so they were removed
holding the door open with old lawn mower blades...
now that's craftsmanship!
we'll see how she goes...

Oval Bottle/ 2 Spots
Oval Bottle/ 2 Spots
Cream over Blue, Green and Lime Stripes
13in.H x 12in.W
SOLD
the basket like woven quality of these is undeniable, but what fascinates me are the ghost stripes,
those very faintly visible as the cobalt overpowers them...
after a while a landscape quality emerges as if the greens and limes are floating in the fog, coming and going with the ambient light...
