Vase 2 testing...

this one keeps drawing me back to it
quiet,worn, nearly polished by time
I love the fact that it's origin is unclear...
what exactly is it made of?
Brown Vase with Growth
11in.H x 5in.W x 3'5in.D
$150

Ancient Vase

today's tests brought this beautiful surprise...
the adventure continues with many more twists
and turns than I ever expected...
some old myths are starting to fall...

Ancient Vase
9in.H x 4.25in.W
$125

Rock Caddy w/ Lichen...

from today's test kiln...
I'm thinking these are really beginning to have the surface quality of the thermal vents
which inspired all this raw volcanic work of mine
or perhaps a geyser's  mineral encrustation surrounding it's vent...
they're awfully close if not there already...
celebration is in order!

RockCaddy w/ Encrustation
8.5in.H x 7in.W
$250

the Rastas

the Rastas, here in morning mist, are on full display now
I love these guys,
but there seem to be no double decker ones this year
how curious...

Plates

from the first load in a larger kiln...
this test has left me with more questions than answers...
I wanted the pouring of the glaze to be visible beneath the lines, forming a field of linear variation in density over glaze variation of different density... think that's here... but still wondering about this?????? and of course there are those pesky smudges...
more tests...
