Wet Lava Turner/Stump
Wet in the Studio...
A Lava Turner/Stump piece...
these always take shape after some drying has occurred...
the shrinkage "pulls" everything together...
as one always finding the "wet" pot the most seductive stage until after firing,
this came as a surprise to me... I have spent days
in the past thinking the table was full of junk,
only to see, after 3 days or so, the pieces were exactly what I was searching for...
new methods... new patterns ... new timings...

Through the Looking Glass
through the looking glass, out the studio window...
rains in downpours today echoing off the metal roof
humidity is high and tiring as the day moves along...
unusual in Maine, but nevertheless here...
it's perfect weather for carving coral pots though,
as everything is wet and staying that way...
no need to hurry or rush, just slowly move along one fin at a time...
the less I rush anything these days, the better I feel about everything...

Wet in the Studio...Coral Bottle
Wet in the studio...Coral Bottle
these take a few days to carve out...
it's a while, but the results are worth it...
16in.H x 10in.W... lots of surface area...
just making sure I still have the chops, as they say...
plus, the foot requires working while sitting...
these fit the bill, till it heals...
