Cup w/ Black Crackle
a nice example of my shino experiments... iron shino and black shino with an overfiring of white...
many layers in a couple of firings offers more depth and nuance in the surface... the black crackle lines are an example here... I'm beginning to doubt the myth of heavy reduction being necessary for shinos...
there are many ways around the bend...

Oval Shino
Oval Shino Bottle... from the experiments...
11in.H x 10in.W
this bottle's surface is most intriguing to me...
it has the kitchen sink thrown on it... black shino, iron shino and regular shino
plus the ever changing effect of wood ash, most especially around the top...
it has craters, rolls and bumps and just about every variation I was looking for...
another pot from the shelf, once questionable, now feeling really nice...

Wet Lava Turner/Stump
Wet in the Studio...
A Lava Turner/Stump piece...
these always take shape after some drying has occurred...
the shrinkage "pulls" everything together...
as one always finding the "wet" pot the most seductive stage until after firing,
this came as a surprise to me... I have spent days
in the past thinking the table was full of junk,
only to see, after 3 days or so, the pieces were exactly what I was searching for...
new methods... new patterns ... new timings...
