new surfaces from older pots

seems I have found a way forward without the wood kiln
with a look back at some old pots found in the barn...
one never knows where the necessary info will come from
yet it inevitably comes
from a new source or an older one,  matters little
only that a way forward emerges is the point of things...
magic wears many coats and comes in the most surprising ways...
I remain grateful it comes....

Brown Rod Box

after the walk below, a pot for today
Rod Box w/ 3 Lid Layers
approx 12in.W x 6in.H
$950
a wonderfully crusty surface, feeding the ancient
quality I always seek in such pieces...

morning walk

a few from this mornings walk around
I am continuously amazed at the variety in the intensity of the colors...
all dependent upon the light and moisture of any particular moment...
I am very lucky to have been here for this time...

Searching

Searching for a new surface...
an initial result, looking for something
to use on some meteor pieces I'd like to make
getting close... perhaps...

backyard colors

backyard early morning colors
before the coming rain...
one walks right by here to
get to the gallery...
a fall fanfare if there ever was one!

2 cups

these two amazing cups are off to a new home...
they are, to my eye, an excellent example
of multi colored, rainbowed,  oil spotted mayhem from the wood kiln
shino over tenmoku a few times
I finally found someone who agreed with me...
they're beautiful!

Real Frost

this morning a clear frost rested all around
stove on in the kitchen
and the awareness that the chill is on it's way...
soon the colors will be everywhere,
then they'll be gone and all will become white...
nice time for firing!

Wet Burled Erosion Vase

Wet in the Studio...
Burled Erosion Vase
finishing up vases from the rains a day ago
a little burling on the erosion surface on this one...
just a bit... nice irregular growth patterns...
