Tall Bottle w/ Rutile

Tall Bottle w/ Rutile
21in.H x 11in.W
$700
a surprise... something unexpected...
a bit more heat and a far different result than
I had anticipated,
the color is difficult to describe, yet very enticing...
I'll be looking at this a while
the many faces of rutile...

Refired Turquoise Bottle

when experimenting with newer techniques
there are always questions
is this interesting enough, rough enough
quirky enough...
so I refired the seemingly popular turquoise bottle,
feeling confident in repeating that result
and then got this planetary marvel...
a chance worth having taken
a landscape I find
 much more varied and interesting...

Bottle w/ Pours

Bottle w/ Pours
14in.H x 9.5in.W
it's going back in with a new layer...
trying to give the turquoise a touch more iron...
this bottle no longer exists... sorry turquoise lovers
there will be others coming...

Survival Island...

Survival Island has a few new visitors....

Timid Bottle

Timid Bottle
13in.H x 7.5in.W
$500

somehow the dinnerware tests have led me here
perhaps this is where I needed to go
I have been offered a way forward and am grateful for that
now I just have to make a bunch more pots and keep trying
to find as many combinations  as I can...

Hive Shaped Geyser Vent w/ Encrusted Minerals

Hive Shaped Geyser Vent w/ Encrusted Minerals
19in.H x 9.5in.W
$2,500

Details of Geyser Vent

Details of the Geyser Vent below... click on image to enlarge...

my goal here is for a surface evocative of the growth and accumulation of minerals and other metals as they might occur on the surface of a geyser vent or thermal vent in the ocean...
I don't want them to seem controlled, but rather to appear naturalistic and lacking the clues and methodology of their origin... lacking in the traditional notion of craftsmanship and all it's permutations and presumptions... I'm hoping for an organically grown appearance from layering and accumulation  over time... randomness, naturalness and most importantly energy... lots of it...
