for a few years now I have left the back and side fields to grow as they wish
cutting them in the fall to preserve the open space for the deer and others
they are filled with an abundance of flowers of all sorts...
this year I have chosen to leave some grass near the house as contrast to the mowed areas...
I have always liked the grasses seen on links golf courses
as they brush up against the closely cut fairways
they move with the wind, sparkle in early morning sun light with dew and
create a universe of colors as alternatives to the green/beige of the mowed lawns...
the contrast is wonderful...
it has been a successful experiment in my eyes
as I search for alternative ways of keeping the place...
