Rest

hi everyone...
I've been away for a while
just home here resting and recovering from the work of the fall into December...
seems my adjustment into the land of the senior citizen is bringing changes
and I've been tired in a way sleep can't cure...
I'm cleaning snow, stoking the fire and watching the winter move along
thinking about what's next and wondering about which impulses to follow...
slowly images of the Demarest cups and bowls will be taken,
[give them a look, the surface is amazing to me]
and then posted as I begin the mumbo jumbo of pot posting and sales generation...
if you ever wanted to buy something of mine...this would be a good time...
thanks...

#TheRoadToDemarest...Searching...

with high hopes and abundant trepidation
I opened the kiln this morning to find this...
very unexpected and yet.....
sometimes one doesn't know immediately what one has or does not have...
I was looking for an aged ivory like tonality
on a smooth but complicated surface...
I'll have to think on this...
but I like not knowing, it is when the result surprises and confuses you
that you know you are moving forward into discovery
and perhaps being momentarily a bit out of your depth
leads to great magic...
perhaps here!

Trying...

with fingers crossed and incense burning
this piece was loaded yesterday into the kiln and is firing now
for it's first coat of glaze...
after 2 years of trying, I finally thought I had a good system for firing these pieces
but as ceramics seems inevitably to do
it's giving me fits recently...giant pinholing and peeling , suddenly, out of nowhere...
I'm hopeful, but one never knows with clay work...
people forget when expecting clay work to be cheap
that you also pay a bit for all the failure and experimentation...
don't you, shouldn't you...
imagine if we potters charged like drug companies...
Jesus... we'd all be millionaires...
#TheRoadToDemarest
wish me luck...
